PP: Police officers are being used to exert pressure on the new caretaker prime minister - 1

We categorically condemn attempts to politically interfere in the work of Ministry of the Interior. “This is absolutely illegal and it is dangerous for politicians to play with the police apparatus of the state”, said the leader of the party Kiril Petkov.

With particular concern, we note the information about sending special messages from the SDVR to police officers in the capital. This act represents an unacceptable attempt to manipulate and put pressure on law enforcement officers.

Even more disturbingly, police officers are being used to put pressure on the new caretaker prime minister. This is clear evidence that the Ministry of Internal Affairs is being used for political purposes, which is unacceptable in a democratic country. Even more so by trade union organizations whose job it is to protect the labor rights of police officers, not to incite and exert political pressure on the caretaker prime minister.

We at “Continuing the Change” we demand an immediate end to any actions aimed at influencing the selection of the next Minister of the Interior by organizing protests or putting pressure on officials in the system. No one has a lifelong right to be a minister, nor to organize protests against remaining in office.

We call for full transparency regarding the content and purpose of the messages to the police, as well as an investigation of the individuals behind this unacceptable practice.

We insist that the election of a new Minister of the Interior be made solely on the basis of professional qualities and in the interest of all Bulgarian citizens, and not in favor of certain political or economic circles.

“We Continue the Change” will continue to fight for justice and legality in all state institutions, including the Ministry of Internal Affairs. We are against any politicization of law enforcement structures and will work hard to restore trust in law enforcement agencies.
