The court specified that at this stage it is a question of a work accusation and it is a question of criminal activity with a particularly high public danger. Last week, the anti-corruption commission raided the offices of Gaitanski and Mavrodiev.
In front of the court, Rumen Gaitanski said that he wanted to be questioned. His lawyer Krasimir Donkov stated that after the briefing of the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office on the case on August 15, he and his client went to have Gaitanski questioned by the investigators, but he was brought back for 15:00 the next day, when appeared. “For the first time, it happened to me that my client was returned by the investigator,", Donkov told BTA.
The prosecutor's office indicated that in the course of the investigation, contracts between the companies were analyzed in order to establish the use of the loan in view of the availability of data for the provision of fictitious collateral to the bank. According to the state prosecution, Gaitanski deliberately induced Stoyan Mavrodiev to commit a crime, part of the money from the loan was used to pay dividends to Gaitanski in the amount of BGN 46 million, and over BGN 26 million was used by the company "Crystal Water". ; for payment of liabilities of the "Varna" thermal power plant. The prosecutor's office added that there is a real danger that Rumen Gaitanski will go into hiding and commit another crime. Sufficient evidence of Gaitanski's guilt has been collected, the prosecution added.
When, how and in what way Gaitanski incited Stoyan Mavrodiev is not indicated by the prosecution, said lawyer Krasimir Donkov. According to him, this is because there is no evidence.
On August 16, when he turned himself in, Rumen Gaitanski refused to answer questions at the Anti-Corruption Commission and was detained for 72 hours. Last week, the other detainee – lawyer Ivan Georgiev, was released on bail of BGN 50,000. He has not paid the amount and will appeal within a week.
Last week, the anti-corruption commission raided the offices of Gaitanski and Mavrodiev. According to the investigation, part of nearly BGN 150 million of BBR money went to buy luxury cars. Gaitanski's luxury cars, for which investigators have permission, have not yet been exported.
