List of Varna teachers, signed “against” changes to the Law on preschool and school education was distributed on social networks by the local organization of “Revival”.
How legal, but also moral, is it to release the names of the teachers, as well as publicly criticize them for speaking out “against” the ban on propaganda of non-traditional sexual orientation? These questions were commented on in “The interview after NOVA News by lawyer Alexander Kashamov.
„Most likely people had the idea to publicly express their position, therefore they probably gave some publicity themselves. However, this does not mean that anyone can republish with the intention of stigmatizing this group of people and instilling hatred towards them with this list, commented lawyer Kashamov.
„The fact that they are listed with 2 names and the school they work in already makes them identifiable. This means that under the General Data Protection Regulation the personal data protection system is activated. This means that for such a list to be republished there must be a legitimate purpose. And stigmatizing someone and instilling hatred is not a legitimate goal," commented the lawyer.
„It's about the teachers – the guild that 250 years ago had brought this people out of darkness to bring them into enlightenment and the light of civilization. It is done in order to prevent them from expressing a position and their opinion about a law. And in a democracy there is freedom of speech. That's what we fought for. Wasn't that the idea of getting out of communism, where you couldn't speak freely,” commented lawyer Kashamov.
