5,000 high school seniors sit for a second compulsory matura exam

Of these, 2,079 will take a mandatory exam in a profiling subject, and 2,906 - a state exam for acquiring a professional qualification, part in theory. This was announced by the press center of the Ministry of Education and Science (MES).

The most desired subject for the second matriculation exam remains the English language, as 551 matriculation students will take it. Then there are geography and economics with 415 students, biology and health education - with 311, history - with 237, and information technology - with 173. There will be 152 students in the entrepreneurship exam, 116 in philosophy, and 42 in mathematics. .

Students who will take a mandatory state exam for acquiring a professional qualification - theory part also have a choice regarding the format of the exam. 1,695 seniors have expressed a desire to develop a topic, 533 will solve a test, and 678 will defend a diploma project on an individual assignment.

Exams will start at 8:30 am. They will take place in 501 halls of 185 schools in the country.

The current session is attended by high school seniors who have not successfully passed the exam in previous campaigns.

Those who wish to take an exam in a subject they have already taken are also allowed, using the new grade for applying to higher education.

Those who do not have a grade in a given subject in their secondary education diploma can also take the exam.

On August 26, additional state matriculation exams will be held at the student's request.

The exam results will be announced by September 5, 2024.
