The residents of four Svishtovo villages that do not have drinking water are protesting again today and tomorrow, BNR reported.
People from Hadjidimitrovo, Gorna Studena, Kozlovets and Morava will close the main road Pleven – Rousse near the village of Gorna Studena. Blockades are from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
This is another protest with a road blockade of the Svishtovo villages suffering due to the lack of water. People want the water operator and the state to step in and complete the supply pipes, repair the internal networks and look for new water sources. Pipeline losses are over 70% and local water sources have almost dried up. There is no water in the villages for days.
The problems with the lack of water in the villages of Svishtov were discussed during the week by the mayor of the municipality Gencho Genchev with the regional minister Violeta Koritarova and with the leader of GERB Boyko Borisov.
Project documentation has been prepared for the replacement of the outdated and unusable water supply network in the affected villages, but the financial commitment is too much for the Municipality. Sources and ways of financing are being actively sought, the Svishtov Municipality points out and add that hydrogeological studies are also being carried out to search for alternative water sources.
