The coalition "We continue the change - Democratic Bulgaria" came out with a position regarding Dimitar Glavchev's proposals for a caretaker government.
We publish the position without editorial intervention:
"Borisov and Peevski will hold elections again.
We did not have high expectations from PP-DB, but the proposed cabinet exceeds negative expectations.
Unfortunately, acting Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev was unable to free himself from his addictions and once again proposed a cabinet that was comfortable behind the scenes.
Another rise of "man from the system" instead of a publicly significant figure external to the Ministry of the Interior as an acting minister, he buries the idea of civil control over the power department.
We have no confidence in Atanas Ilkov, proposed for acting Minister of Internal Affairs. We have already stated this when he was proposed by Maria Gabriel as interior minister in a regular cabinet. Then we rejected the offer due to the fact that Ilkov led the ill-fated action in Lyaskovets in 2014, in which an MIA employee was killed and three employees were injured.
We have enough information to believe that this is another conductor of Peevski's interests, another Kalin Stoyanov. The new Minister of the Interior must prove that he is not another “lieutenant” of Peevski in the force department. Therefore, our assessment of Atanas Ilkov's work will depend solely on his ability to distinguish himself from Peevski's influence and pressure. This can happen in only one way - by limiting vote buying.
With the tools of parliamentary control, we from PP-DB will carefully monitor the activities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in relation to the prevention and counteraction of crimes against the political rights of citizens.
We will make light of any attempt to taint the electoral process.
It is the duty of the official authority to organize fair elections and not to give cause for suspicion of vitiating the electoral process".
