Boyko Borisov nominated Ekaterina Zaharieva for European Commissioner, but it will not be her, there is another up his sleeve. Atanas Atanasov, co-chairman of PP-DB, stated this in an interview with BNR.
He refused to say who the person "in Borisov's sleeve" is, so as not to speculate.
Atanasov was adamant that the PP-DB will not play a fixed match regarding the nominations and the election of the Bulgarian European Commissioner.
"We submitted a proposal from the parliamentary group of the PP-DB, even before the vacation, to change the rules of the National Assembly, which stipulates that the candidacy for European Commissioner must be approved by the government and be approved by the National Assembly. They just asked each other's ears! They forgot and by now the changes could be made. What we are witnessing, and the main actor is Glavchev, is three days before the deadline, he says: "Give names", Atanas Atanasov commented.
And asked:
"Where did Sergey Stanishev come from? The question is different, the hands of the institutions cannot be twisted - "either we make a European commissioner tomorrow, or mind your own business". We insist on having a procedure even if the deadline is not met. If there is motivation in the National Assembly, the rules could be changed in a week and a wider circle of people could be heard, otherwise we will not participate in a fixed match."
Atanasov said that next week the deputies return to the National Assembly and he admits that there may be a new extraordinary meeting for the European Commissioner if there is a desire to change the rules.
According to him, "someone somewhere has ordered everything and now Glavchev has been given a task. Sometimes both Borisov and Peevski say".
"I don't know in what role and form the pieces of the DPS will appear in the next elections, the DSB chairman admitted.
And warned:
"The ethnic basis of DPS is a matter of national security, we cannot play around on this important topic, because we have seen tensions escalate over the years."
