Plamen Dimitrov: The salary increase to BGN 1,077 still leaves us last in the EU - 1

Even with this planned increase , we will continue to be last in the EU in terms of income. This is what the president of KNSB Plamen Dimitrov said regarding the increase of the minimum wage in the country to BGN 1,077 from January 1 next year.

In his words, employers insist that there is no national minimum wage, and that incomes be negotiated by individual branches. According to Dimitrov, such an idea cannot be implemented in our latitudes.

There is no way for us to negotiate different labor prices with businesses, because at least we are not a federation like Germany. We are a small country, for which it takes four hours to cross it from one end to the other, the president of KNSB explained.

Dimitrov expressed suspicion that in some regions of the country there are agreements between local businesses to suppress the price of labor at certain levels, giving as an example Northwestern Bulgaria and the Rhodope region.

He pointed out that one of the leading reasons for the shortage of personnel in our country is precisely the low pay.

In Germany, the minimum wage is over BGN 2,000, and the journey to Germany is an hour and a half by plane, reminded Plamen Dimitrov.

The trade unionist also drew attention to the gross domestic product, which “is growing quite slowly” – another reason why our income is not what it should be.
