Who will sign the BSP lists for the upcoming elections… Could the BSP not be able to register, which possibility Cornelia Ninova hinted at. Krum Donchev, a member of the National Council of the party, spoke to FAKTI on the subject.
- Mr. Donchev, the DPS split into two, and the BSP split into how many. What's going on in the party. Who is fighting for what?
- The BSP is completely united in the conviction that the party must go on a new path, with a newly elected leadership and a new vision for development, united around fundamental ideological postulates. At the same time, we are divided on how to make these changes. I and a large part of the members of the BSP believe that this transition should be carried out on a principled basis, by statute, entirely according to the rules. This succession would legitimize the new leadership, provide a solid foundation on which to build. However, the interim leadership went in a different, unclear direction and put the party in front of a number of risks that have been talked about in recent days.
- We heard a few days ago that Cornelia Ninova warned that the BSP might not register for the upcoming extraordinary parliamentary elections. Why?
- This is one of the risks I am talking about. The timeline for the upcoming elections requires parties and coalitions to be registered by September 11, and the case in the Supreme Court of Cassation on my appeal is scheduled for September 9. Let's assume that the Supreme Court of Cassation has already ruled on September 9, then in this case, the time for coalition negotiations on specific policies will be too little or we can even say that it is impossible to happen. For this reason, this process must be started immediately, and by the person having the right to conduct these negotiations and consultations. In the specific case, it is the still acting chairman of the BSP, Kornelia Ninova, or through her proxies. She is the acting chairman in resignation until the holding of a Congress, at which this resignation must be ascertained and a direct election for the chairman of the party should be scheduled.
- As a member of the National Council of the BSP, you contest the unlawful, in your opinion, deletion of Kornelia Ninova as chairman and the entry of Atanas Zafirov as a representative of the BSP. You bear heavy criticism for hiding and cannot be served with a subpoena. What is the situation. Apparently a person can find you after talking?
- It is illegal according to the Statute, and I only ascertain this illegality and defend it - our highest party law, and thus the interests of all party members. Specifically, with regard to the baseless accusations against me that I was hiding from someone, I state that I have provided the court with two addresses for correspondence, a personal and a business one, and that I will appear promptly, wherever and whenever, if necessary. necessary. Anyone who wants to can find me. I have nothing to worry about, since my conscience is absolutely clear and my position is principled. Allegations of my shirking responsibility are absurd.
- And the elections are in 2 months… How will these disputes affect the BSP election result?
- As a rank-and-file member of the party and a representative of our electorate before the National Council and the Congress, I have never allowed myself to affect or attack the leadership in public. Yes, we have had arguments, we have had different opinions with many people, but I have always tried to protect the authority of each socialist, because I am aware that this will lead to a loss of public support for the whole party. My appeal to all socialists and to the governing bodies of the party is to solve our disputes only and only in our little house.
- Atanas Zafirov acts as acting chairman, Cornelia Ninova delegates power of attorney to Ivan Chenchev. What's going on?
- It is within the powers of the still acting chairman to authorize his representatives for the performance of his functions. And so it happened. There is nothing wrong here.
- In one of your comments you say that “… this whole political travesty in Bulgaria must be stopped once and for all”. But BSP is also part of it. What is the road ahead for BSP?
- There is only one path, and it is the path of consolidation of all left-thinking people, of all socialists, but not around names or party abbreviations, but around ideas and policies. Let's not forget what brought people together 133 years ago and what their common goal was. I personally doubt that those people had a fixed idea to insert themselves into lists for a parliamentary vote. Let us return to our ideological beginnings and original values.
- 150,000 votes in the last election is not something BSP can be proud of. How will you change the trend until the vote on October 27?
- Trust is built hard and slowly, with less empty talk and more constructive action taken by people of high authority. I believe that the lists for the upcoming vote should include precisely such individuals - who have proven themselves in a personal, professional and public sense, charged with living energy, sober-minded. This will give the party a boost in the short term. In the long term, a thorough analysis of our situation should be done, our ideological basis should be recharged and upgraded, around which to unite and outline the path of development of the BSP, taking into account all modern challenges. A socialist party is above all an idea. It existed before us, it will continue to exist after us. I call on everyone who loves the left to support the BSP in the upcoming elections. I know that we can, I know that we are strong and that we can do it.
- Many socialists are already talking about unification of the left, in which the BSP will play a leading role. Is it possible and how do you imagine it?
- It is both possible and mandatory. The BSP, as the main carrier and originator of left-wing ideas in Bulgaria, should be the leader in this unification. This must happen because of our ideology, because of our common ideas, because of our common direction and our desire to change the environment in which we all live as a nation.
