From November 1 to 30, 2024, the traditional “Winter” promotion will be held on the territory of the country. The action is being held at the initiative of the Union of Bulgarian Motorists in partnership with the Bulgarian Red Cross and other state institutions.
From 01 to 10 November 2024– campaign “With a safe road vehicle in winter“, aimed at drivers of public transportation - bicycles, animal-drawn vehicles and others. The emphasis is on checking the lights for their serviceability in accordance with the legal requirements for registration and re-registration of the PPS. It is planned together with the local authorities to carry out checks on the availability of registration, as well as on the serviceability of the reflective signaling of animal-drawn vehicles and small-sized agricultural machinery. Checks in this direction will continue even after the end of the action.
Control in this period will be directed to:
- the observance of the introduced restrictions on the movement of bicycles, individual electric vehicles, PPS with animal traction and agricultural machinery on certain roads or sections of the republican road network;
- not allowing traffic on the roads and streets of technically malfunctioning public transport vehicles without the necessary equipment;
- prohibiting movement outside of populated areas, during the dark part of the day and with reduced visibility of cyclists without a reflective vest;
- not allowing the movement of drivers of individual electric vehicles in the dark hours of the day and/or in reduced visibility without reflective elements on the visible part of the clothing, allowing them to be easily noticed, or without a helmet if the drivers are under the age of 18 years;
- not allowing traffic during the dark part of the day for drivers of public transport vehicles with animal traction without reflective vests;
- not allowing the management of bicycles on highways.
