A protest took place in Pleven against dehydration. Twenty people from Pleven responded to the call on social networks to come out this morning on "Vazrazhdane" square. and to express their displeasure against the water regime.
The participants in the protest raised placards with the inscriptions "The protest is not political", "Mr. Glavchev, Bulgaria is not only Sofia", "Mr. Mayor, when will you step into your role as such"? and others.
"It is extremely unacceptable that there is no water in a European country claiming to be a legal state that wants to be part of Schengen and the Eurozone, this affects three areas. The huge problem comes from the indolence of our state and municipal rulers. There is no rehabilitation of the water supply network of the city and the municipality. It is proper to take not only talk, but also action, to unfreeze the "Black Eight" dam project, to start the construction of this facility, which will alleviate and definitively solve our problem. It is proper for the prosecutor's office to investigate the many illegal connections to the "Black Eight" main water supply system, said the organizer of the protest, Emil Krastev.
According to him, the small number of participants in the protest can be explained by apathy and lack of initiative. However, Krastev is adamant that his enthusiasm and willingness to express his dissatisfaction through protest will not stop, because "a warrior is a warrior himself".
Beatrice Hristova from Pleven, who lives on "Stoyan Mihailovski" street. told that they had only an hour or two of water a day. We want to have the system bled if that is the problem and to have clarity on what hours and for how long we will have water. Nothing can be done - neither to wash nor to bathe a person", she is categorical.
The protest lasted about two hours and passed without tension.
The water regime in Pleven was introduced in the middle of the month. The water is turned off from 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. and, if necessary, during the day from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Yesterday, in a press release from the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works, it was announced that Minister Eng. Violeta Koritarova announced that the "Black Eight" dam construction project will be unfrozen.
