Assoc. Petar Cholakov: I don't want to be in the place of the CEC - to choose between Peevski and Dogan - 1

"Obviously, the party system cannot meet the demands of a large part of voters. Voter turnout is decreasing more and more, fewer and fewer people are going to vote, and this reflects including on the political parties represented in the parliament".

This is how the political scientist Associate Professor Petar Cholakov explained to the BNR the tense political situation in the country.

"The question is why there are these upheavals in the party system, and in such unshakable political formations as the DPS, which seemed absolutely monolithic, a model of a healthy party family. There was no breakup expected there. Everywhere else there were such expectations, only for DPS there was none", he commented.

For him, the question is curious as to why there is no such deep drama and crisis in the two formations, which are the biggest losers of votes in the last elections compared to the previous ones. At GERB, has anyone heard talk of disintegration, asked the political scientist. According to him, Boyko Borisov's party is the most monolithic at the moment. There is another drama there - with whom they will form a coalition after the elections, he added.

For PP-DB Cholakov thinks that they will be able to understand each other. The question is what happens to the leaders, he asks and emphasized that there is no leadership battle there.

Every party family has a personal tragedy, the political scientist noted in the program "Above all".

I don't want to be in the place of the CEC members - having to choose between Peevski and Dogan, he added and explained:

"In this country there are, as it were, persons, political figures, who are simply above the law. Who would do himself such a favor as to "prefer" one in front of the other. They have to be very careful.

Assoc. Cholakov does not know how the CEC will make the choice of who will leave the "DPS" brand:

"It is about battles between some oligarchic overlords. Whoever wins, the outcome for democracy will not be a win-win. This is very bad news for Bulgaria. From here, we will make another prediction - the voters will still not be satisfied, and there is no way that this will reflect in a positive way on the voter turnout".

According to him, the drama in the BSP is shocking. Cornelia Ninova accumulated a lot of enemies and it was clear that "one night of the long knives" would come, he thinks. What does the BSP and the socialists gain from these struggles at the top - that is the question, added the political scientist and expressed doubt that they will gain anything.

Assoc. Cholakov does not consider it certain that the "lightning rod" of all this will be a "Revival" - that they will succeed in attracting the discontent of other political forces. According to him, new projects will appear.
