It is an honor for me to be in Plovdiv on this historic date. This was said by President Rumen Radev during the ceremony on the occasion of the 139th anniversary of the Unification of Bulgaria.

"It is an honor for me on today's memorable date to be in the thousand-year-old Plovdiv, where for 139 years the echoes of the historic act of Unification continue to echo. The most inspiring episode of Bulgarian political audacity - on September 6, 1885, the colors of the Bulgarian flag were waved over the Plovdiv Konak for the first time to announce the union of the Principality of Bulgaria and Eastern Rumelia, said Radev.
"Nihilism is not an option,", he added.
"Salute to the saviors of the Bulgarian Union," Rumen Radev also said.
"Long live a united Bulgaria", he also pointed out.
The ceremony continued with the dawn-check celebrations.
Then flowers and wreaths were presented by Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev, Speaker of the National Assembly Raya Nazaryan, deputies, ministers, Acting Chief Prosecutor Borislav Sarafov, Mayor Kostadin Dimitrov, citizens and guests of Plovdiv.
