The lowest salary in the army becomes BGN 2,300 from January next year. For junior officers, the salary can reach BGN 2,950, and for senior officers – up to BGN 4,050. Senior officers will receive up to BGN 6,700.
This is stated in a written response of the Acting Minister of Defense Atanas Zapryanov to a question by MP Hristo Gadjev.
The increase in wages will be greater for soldiers – 47%. For senior officers, the increase will be 27%, writes BNT.
Thus, from January next year, the salary for soldiers will be up to BGN 2,370, for sergeants (seniors) — up to BGN 2,485, and for officer candidates — up to BGN 2,630
With changes to the Defense Law in April, it was decided that the salaries of the military will be determined based on the national average salary for the second quarter of the previous year.
The basic monthly remuneration is increased by a factor compared to the base – for officers not less than 1.2, but for officer candidates, sergeants and soldiers – not less than 1.0.
The latest defense report reported a 26% shortfall for officers, 27% for enlisted men and sailors.
The voluntary reserve remains replenished at critically low levels. One of the recommendations was the adoption of emergency legislative measures to prepare the stockpile in peacetime.
