The Foreign Agents Bill introduced by "Vazrazhdane" is copied almost one for one from the US Foreign Agent Registration Act. This was commented to journalists in the National Assembly by the chairman of the party Kostadin Kostadinov.
According to him, the law provides for sanctions only in case of non-compliance. "There are no sanctions for those who will be foreign agents or receive funding. There are penalties if they don't declare it or what they do isn't declared. The law explicitly states that all aid received for treatment does not fall under the category of “foreign agent”", said Kostadinov and called on everyone who speaks on the subject to first open and read the law.
In his words, the American law works extremely well. "The law does not provide for sanctions, but for publicity and transparency, the same is true in Bulgaria. It is a lie that the law was copied from the Russian law," explained Kostadinov.
