For the first time this year, free general education textbooks have been provided for children from VIII to the XII grade for the 2024-2025 school year, NOVA reported.
The state provided BGN 93 million for them. Up to that point, they were free only for students up to class VII.
The term of delivery of educational books, textbooks and study sets to kindergartens and schools – state, municipal and private, incl. textbooks for students studying in European schools was until September 10, 2024.
Textbooks for all general education subjects, as well as religion, mother tongue and choreography, will be provided free of charge. They also include foreign language textbooks.
Until last school year, parents had to pay about BGN 300 each for textbooks and exercise books, the most expensive being those in a foreign language. This year, as in the future, the textbooks remain, which are paid for by the parents.
