Political party "Vazrazhdane" continues its initiative to raise funds to cover the costs of legal defense of Milan Dimitrov, who is in a private prison in the American state of Texas. This was announced by Angel Yanchev, chairman of the "Revival" organization. in Veliko Tarnovo and chairman of the Committee on Culture and Media in the 50th National Assembly, during a press conference in BTA - Veliko Tarnovo.
On September 22, the day of the 116th anniversary of the declaration of Bulgarian Independence, 92-year-old Yordan Todorov from the village of Arbanasi donated BGN 1,000 for Milan Dimitrov's legal defense, Yanchev reported. From an interview with party leader Kostadin Kostadinov, Todorov understands that so far $70,000 has been collected and transferred to Dimitrov's American lawyer, but another $80,000 is still needed. Yordan Todorov, captain of the Bulgarian fighter aviation and founder of the City History Museum in Gorna Oryahovitsa, has a long career as chairman of the community center in Arbanasi, manager of the printing house in Veliko Tarnovo and director of the Cinema Center in Gorna Oryahovitsa.
The campaign is unfolding throughout the country and not only supporters of "Revival", but also many citizens participate with donations, explained Hristo Guguchkov, chairman of the party in Lyaskovets and municipal councilor. He announced that the local residents of Lyaskovets collected and donated 400 BGN for the cause.
At the same press conference, Angel Yanchev also presented the list of PP "Vazrazhdane" for the upcoming parliamentary elections on October 27 in the 4th MIR – Veliko Tarnovo. The list consists of 16 candidates for the 8 mandates in the region, and Yanchev will be the leader. Second on the list is Alexandra Todorova, designer engineer and chairman of the "Vazrazhdane" group. in the Municipal Council of Veliko Tarnovo. Three new people are joining the race, and according to Yanchev, it is quite possible that the party will win two mandates in the 51st National Assembly.
In the previous elections on June 9, they fell short of only 15 votes for a second term, after the counting of the protocols. The party's campaign will again focus on face-to-face meetings, informational materials, open events and receptions, in which both the candidates and the party's MEPs and municipal councilors will participate.
