There is no danger of Sofia residents paying vignettes for the Ring Road in Sofia. This is what the Mayor of Sofia, Vasil Terziev, told journalists, in response to a question related to an agreement between the Sofia Municipality and the "Road Infrastructure" Agency. (API) for the Ring Road.

BTA recalls that at the end of last week, API sent a position in which they indicate that the Metropolitan Municipality does not sign an agreement with the Agency for the joint maintenance of sections of the republican road network on the territory of the municipality, and this may require the introduction of vignettes for the use of the ring road. The Municipality, in its position, indicated that once again we are witnessing how a state institution is used for political purposes instead of solving people's problems.

In front of journalists today, the mayor of Sofia explained that the municipal administration tries to have a good institutional dialogue. We have said many times that we do not want to talk to other institutions through the media, Terziev pointed out. According to him, everything related to the API is being ironed out. The work on the bridge on "Bulgaria" Blvd. and the Ring Road is going, explained Terziev. We are fulfilling our role, even though it is imputed to us, because APIs did not take the lead on this project, the mayor said.

Terziev expressed hope that within two weeks this topic will be finished and the traffic on the bridge will be released. We are also working to regulate the relations between the API and the Metropolitan Municipality on all issues in order to have a longer-term road map, added the Metropolitan Mayor.
