Between the state, in the person of the "Road" Agency infrastructure" (API), and the Metropolitan Municipality, in the person of the mayor and his administration, there is no dialogue, otherwise we would not witness this public quarrel between two institutions.
This is what VMRO municipal councilor Carlos Contrera said in "Day ON AIR".
According to him, the Metropolitan Municipality "made a blunder with the emergency repair of the bridge facility".
"The idea is for all institutions to work for the citizens, and not to fight with each other for some conjunctural considerations. I do not know why the Metropolitan Municipality did not sign an agreement with API for the maintenance of the national road network on the territory of the municipality. This is a mechanism worked out over the years that works. The capital municipality has many cases where it should be a partner with the state, not an adversary," Contrera emphasized to Bulgaria ON AIR.
"The price of water in this case is a function of what KEVR decides on the business plan. In Sofia, thanks to the efforts of the Municipal Council in the last mandate, there was no increase for two years, unlike other areas. The big issue with water is not only for Sofia. This year we have seen cases across the country of no water supply for weeks. The main thing is no longer the price of water, but whether the state will provide Bulgarian citizens with access to water at all", the municipal councilor believes.
Legislation must be changed - the price of water cannot be determined on the basis of how much money will be collected from citizens with the idea of investments, insisted Contrera.
"This is the wrong model. Our bills keep getting higher. We need a serious intervention of the state in the investment policy. I'm not convinced that 90% of the people who run for power have an idea of what needs to be done," he believes.
"We must act. The system is underfunded. No mechanism was found to compensate for what was like damage from the time of Covid-19, the high prices of natural gas, of fuels. At the moment we are practically at the technological minimum. Therefore, in March I offered them more funds so that we do not end up in such situations. The state owes about 25 million for compensation for preferential cards, it has not transferred them to the municipality, and these are calculated funds. My proposal today was to secure these BGN 25.2 million from the municipal budget. I understand that Mayor Terziev and his group are against it," Contrera summed up.
"Early in the morning, VMRO came out with a clear position that the situation is already too tense in the Middle East and it is necessary to convene a National Security Council. The presidential institution listened to the call. What is happening in the Middle East creates dangers for Bulgaria in two directions. First - in line with terrorism. The confrontation between Israel and these huge groups of Muslims that surround this territory will develop into a series of radical actions, including assassinations. Measures must be taken, the border must be tightly closed and illegal migration must not be allowed, Contrera concluded.
