„What is happening in our country is unprecedented during an election campaign”.
This is how Jevdet Chakarov, chairman of the DPS from the faction around Ahmed Dogan, commented in Haskovo on the arrests of MP Jeyhan Ibryamov and the mayor of Mineralni Bani Myumyun Iskender, quoted by bTV.
Chakarov joined the protest in front of the Courthouse in Haskovo, where today Iskender's measure is being considered.
„This can be expressed in one word – “repression”. You can see the actions of the conquered country”, comments Chakarov.
He announced that due to the tension, the DPS faction around Ahmed Dogan will demand the cancellation of the elections. They will still consult with lawyers and constitutionalists.
The chairman of the DPS hopes that the question will also be raised at the meeting of the National Security Advisory Council (NSAC) under President Rumen Radev on Friday.
Jevdet Chakarov cannot attend the CSNS because he is not a member of a parliamentary group.
„People are calling us from all over the country, they are ready for protests. The situation is not to be underestimated. We call on people for peaceful and democratic actions, but people are worried and let's hope that order will be preserved”, Chakarov warned.
The mayor of Mineralni Bani Myumyun Iskender, his son Ali Ali and a technician in the municipality of Bayryam Ilyaz have been in investigative custody since September 20. They are accused of being an organized criminal group that misused euro funds from the "Agriculture" State Fund.
The MP and candidate for MP Jeyhan Ibryamov was arrested yesterday. Marked money was allegedly found in his possession. The prosecutor's office requested the removal of his immunity.
