Ivan Kostov: We allowed corruption that compromised the institutions themselves - 1

A dispute with the majority can be won because the truth initially is always not shared by the majority. This is what he said in the show "Panorama" on BNT former Prime Minister Ivan Kostov, quoted by novini.bg.

A part of society in our country remains in the past, moves much more slowly and shares old values, lives in today's time, but with the things of the past. I think these people are no longer the majority. This is also from the change of generations, he declared.

Every one-man regime carries the plague of corruption and the collapse of institutions. Settlement and collusion during communism was a form of corruption. It is incredibly difficult to stop this, but it can be contained within reasonable limits. However, we have allowed corruption to take such dangerous proportions, to climb to such high levels that it compromises the institutions themselves, Kostov stressed.

According to him, compromise is the way society holds on to everything from the past.

This is a conservative way in which, when you encounter such a critical situation, you find within yourself the code to solve it. But when radical reforms are made, compromise is a great misfortune, because they will not be carried through to the end. Reforms are like the garden - you plant it, and the fruits come after years. The result of the reforms is not immediately visible. Truth's greatest ally is time. It gradually convinces people where the truth is and where lies and injustice are, the former prime minister also said.
