The consolidation in the left political space, which was initiated for the upcoming elections, is an attempt by BSP to win back disappointed voters. This was stated in the studio of “On focus” acting party chairman Atanas Zafirov.
„We do not expect any results, but as a first step it is good”, he is categorical. According to him, one of the obstacles to such a unification of the left parties in our country was precisely the former leader of the BSP, Kornelia Ninova. “Recently, she had absolutely inappropriate behavior and lost her balance,” added Zafirov.
The decline of BSP influence over time is a constant, he added. According to him, the problem is not leadership, but the way the formation functions.
„BSP is a deeply democratic party. The right-liberal environment in which we operate brings the leadership formations to the fore, added I.F. party chairman. “Over the years we have underestimated our hard core. In an effort to preserve it, we did not modernize the party to modern leftist trends. We have lost the young people”, the politician believes.
Zafirov invited the leaders of the other parties to a pre-election debate, saying that politics in our country must regain this culture. “I want the debate to be along the left-right axis, not about imaginary dividers,”, he pointed out.
