"Every day we are flooded with information and signals, including to the presidential institution , to buy a vote before the upcoming elections. Such actions discredit not only the very idea of democracy, but also delegitimize the institutions even before they are elected.
Characteristic names and nicknames, unfortunately known from our recent past, appeared. You share my belief that no signal of a bought and controlled vote should go unanswered. In this regard, I believe that the necessary actions are being taken. We expect that the fight against bought and controlled votes will not be reduced only to vote dealers, attention will also be paid to those who distribute the money".
This is what the head of state Rumen Radev said. He holds a meeting with representatives of the institutions responsible for the preparation of the upcoming elections for the National Assembly and for guaranteeing the fairness of the vote.
Participating are the Acting Minister of Innovation and Growth Rosen Karadimov, designated by the Council of Ministers as the coordinator of the organizational and technical preparation for the elections, the Acting Minister of Internal Affairs Atanas Ilkov, i.f. chief prosecutor Borislav Sarafov, representatives of the Central Election Commission and the State Agency "National Security".
"We have seen a lot of active commentary on social media regarding individuals who have been identified as being involved in vote buying and selling. For every signal, immediate action is taken", said Atanas Ilkov - Minister of Internal Affairs.
The result is reported to the prosecutor's office.
"We witnessed names, nicknames or aliases. There were no facts in these signals regarding vote buying. For the majority of individuals, we have taken action, so we have not waited for someone on social networks to report us".
Our work will be difficult as a result of this publicity, Ilkov added.
"This morning the signals received by 09.00 are 89, comparable to 85 from the previous election. The pre-trial ones are 42. As for this period of the previous one, there are 40. The warning protocols are 336 compared to 262 from the previous elections. 128 are the specialty stocks to date. I.e. all that we declare in the public space, it is materialized in all these figures".
Ilkov added that he is not a slave to numbers, but this is the way in which the actual situation can be shown. Emphasizes that the figures are in ascending order compared to the past elections.
