The formation of a government formed from GERB and the coalition PP - DB, is not only the only possible, but also the most stable option for the country at the moment. This is what he called for in an interview for the program "The Live Day" on NOVA NEWS the political scientist Prof. Rumyana Kolarova.
She highlighted the significant overlap in the agendas of the two political forces, which she believes is a solid basis for potential cooperation. She also noted the firm position of GERB leader Boyko Borisov on coalition with any of the DPS factions, ruling that possibility out of the equation.
Special attention in Prof. Kolarova's analysis was devoted to the issue of the election of the Prime Minister. She emphasized the need for a figure who would be equally acceptable to all parties, but warned against the idea of appointing a person with no political experience to the post.
"To propose as prime minister a person who has not been in politics is like making someone fly a plane without having driven a car," said Prof. Kolarova categorically, illustrating the risk of such a decision.
The political scientist expressed deep concern about the effect that prolonged political instability is having on electoral attitudes. She defined as "madness" the tendency to bypass parliament in order to hold new elections, highlighting the detrimental impact of this approach on citizens' confidence in the democratic process.
"The only point of voting is to form a government, but every time the situation gets worse," commented Prof. Kolarova, emphasizing the growing frustration among voters.
In conclusion, Prof. Kolarova pointed out that the main obstacle to the formation of a stable government is not in programmatic differences, but in personal conflicts between political leaders. She questioned the possibility of effective coalition government if the focus remains on the exchange of personnel instead of specific policies and programs for the country's development.
