Buying votes is an experience someone to buy democracy, and this behavior is also permanently corrupting the political process. This is what he said in the show “120 minutes” on bTV Tomislav Donchev, deputy chairman of GERB.
„We have two chances as political forces – either to move in this direction in which the main purpose of the parties is to fight each other and destroy each other, or to remember what the meaning of the political process is. The mode of consent is sought – general leadership, priorities, compromise… "A compromise is always necessary," he said.
Tomislav Donchev recalled the compromise made by GERB when forming the last regular government, when support was given to PP-DB as the second political force. He also said that he does not expect anyone else to make such a compromise towards them.
„If we talk about red lines, I have to say that the red line is behind us – we are past it. We have disgusted people to such an extent with our continuous scandals and lack of results that we have crossed the big red line a long time ago, he explained.
The Deputy Chairman of GERB pointed out that in the past he himself drew red lines many times: “what would we do“ and “what would we do to you”. A week before the elections, however, he thinks that no new red lines should be drawn at the moment.
„I believe that in a democracy there must be rules. I think the degree of compromise you make depends on how big you are – in inverse proportional dependence”, he also said.
Tomislav Donchev commented on the buying of votes and the trust in the acting interior minister Atanas Ilkov.
„I cannot comment on the interior minister because he has a few weeks of experience as such. Otherwise, vote buying is going on, but I am not so gullible as to comment on who is shopping for whom and on what scale. In my opinion, the Ministry of the Interior should make more efforts, for the hell of it, this vicious practice should be stopped”, he commented.
