In these elections, we showed that another BSP is possible. This was said by Ivan Takov, chairman of the BSP - Sofia, after the capital's socialists registered a 33% better result in the early parliamentary elections yesterday compared to those on June 9. In the three MIRs in Sofia, the BSP has a total of 32,082 votes, which is 8,152 votes more than in the last early parliamentary vote. In the capital, the BSP registered the largest increase in the number of voters of all the parties that participated in the elections on Sunday.
"In Sofia, we did a very good job and the result was not too late. We proved that united we can achieve the goals we set for ourselves, commented Ivan Takov. - I sincerely thank everyone who joined the campaign - from the leaders of the lists and the candidates for people's representatives to the volunteers. In this campaign we had motivation, emotion and desire to work for the party. I believe that this result will give us even more strength to fight to return the BSP to the place it deserves, namely the first political force.
Ivan Takov noted that the campaign of the socialists was strong, positive and unifying. "These are the main factors that led to raising our result in Sofia by a third. It was seen that what we did last year in the local elections and now build on in this early parliamentary vote is working, he said. - We updated the lists, we did a good campaign down there, among the people, we talked to the citizens... we brought back the lost tone of our organization.
The chairman of the BSP - Sofia, however, is fully aware that the hard work of turning the party into a strong political factor is yet to come. "Of course, we are pleased to have achieved our goal in this election - to stop the collapse. We have reversed the trend and for the first time in 7 years, not only do we not register a decline, but we also have an increase in the election result. Yes, small, but still a growth. This is the first step in the right direction. We did not expect miracles in these elections, given the state in which the BSP was before the start of the campaign. We have no illusions, we still have a lot of serious work ahead of us - both in the BSP, and in consolidating the left, and in formulating the political goals that must necessarily affect the everyday life of the majority of Bulgarians. Because the BSP, as a left-wing party, is a big debtor to the Bulgarian society in recent years. We have a huge potential social base that we need to reach and whose interests we need to start protecting. And only then should we seek her support and trust. We must return to our primitive socialist roots. To work to change the tax system in order to reduce inequalities and ensure a fair sharing of responsibility for filling the coffers. To reach at least 50% redistribution of GDP to have functioning public systems. To reform the education and health system so as to put an end to the market principle "the money follows the student and the patient". And make it so that there is more of the state in the economy to ensure the public interest, not just private profit. Then the BSP will be a really strong party that will be able to fight for the first political force in the elections. I firmly believe that another BSP is possible.
