Ilkov: In 26% of vote-buying reports, persons connected to parties are targeted - 1

In 26% of the received vote-buying and selling reports, persons associated with political parties are targeted. This was announced to the media by the Acting Interior Minister Atanas Ilkov. He gives a briefing on the MIA's report on the elections.

"In some of the incoming reports, persons were targeted who buy and sell votes without specifying a specific political party," said Minister Ilkov.

"All the evidence we collected before and during the election process – based on these circumstances, we have initiated pre-trial proceedings", he added.

According to him, the investigation is currently ongoing, and due to investigative secrecy, the Ministry of Internal Affairs cannot disclose these data.

Regarding lists that have appeared in the public space, there is no way for the public to expect that on the basis of these lists alone, the Ministry of Internal Affairs will detain persons for whom there is no legal basis, Minister Ilkov explained.

There is too much talk about this topic, statements are being made that mislead the public.

He emphasized that the Ministry of Internal Affairs carries out its functions and obligations according to the Law on the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Criminal Code and the Criminal Procedure Code.
