I hope that the people's representatives realize what damage is done to parliamentarism when inefficiency is seen from the side. This is what President Rumen Radev said to journalists after the oath that the three new constitutional judges took, broadcast by BTA.
The head of state expressed hope that the issue of electing the chairman of the new National Assembly will be resolved quickly.
I gave enough time between the elections and the first session of the National Assembly in the hope that the parties will have time to talk and we will not reach this deadlock, said Radev.
The parties did not use this time in the best way, the head of state pointed out, according to whom the election of the speaker of the parliament unblocks the entire process of choosing a government.
On the occasion of the decision of the judges' collegium of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJSC) to appoint Georgi Cholakov as acting president of the Supreme Administrative Court (SAC), the president said that the practice of decisions that are contrary to constitutional expediency and that do not fit into the framework of constitutional tolerance is becoming more frequent.
Through the appointment of interim officials, requirements that come with issuing decrees are circumvented, principles of mandate are circumvented and guarantees for the independence of bodies are revoked, the powers of the head of state are circumvented. Such are the cases with the acting chief prosecutor, the temporary manager of the embassy in Ukraine, pointed out Radev.
On the occasion of the changes in the Constitution for the election of an acting Prime Minister, Radev stated that “the fathers of the changes in the Constitution renounced their birth to have this case considered".
We all see what it means to have a government without clear political responsibility, added the president.
„We must not be naïve that this insolence on steroids will realize itself, disappear on its own, or due to a collision with some other of its kind, or under the pressure of some new sanctions list. The development of Bulgaria as a democratic country is entirely our responsibility," Radev said on the occasion of the DPS-New Beginning protest on the first day of the 51st NA session and the words of Delyan Peevski.
