Ivan Takov with an assessment of the work of Vasil Terziev and PP-DB-SS: A lost year for the city and for Sofians - 1

Another lost year for the city and for the people of Sofia. This is the assessment of the Local Coalition "BSP for Bulgaria" for the work of Mayor Vasil Terziev and the majority of PP-DB-SS in the Metropolitan Municipal Council in the first year of the mandate. "Already at the first session of this season in September, we clearly stated that the first year of the mandate of Mayor Terziev and the majority of the PP-DB-SS in the SOS will be lost for the city and for the people of Sofia, commented Ivan Takov, chairman of the Local Coalition group "BSP for Bulgaria", quoted by the party's press center.

In that one year they basically cut down monuments, created chaos in the city center and paid millions in legal fees. The really important work for the city and for the people of Sofia, we see that it is not working".

Ivan Takov noted that the analysis at the time of implementation of the budget for this year shows serious non-implementation. "It is with all the commitments made – from the infrastructure, through the kindergartens to the new boulevards. Nothing is happening, he declared. - Mayor Terziev boasted of an 80-page report. Looking carefully at them, we see common messages, good intentions and praise for work done, which, however, is entirely related to the fulfillment of the daily duties of the mayor and the administration in the Capital Municipality. There are also pictures of beautiful landscapes of Sofia, but they do not show completed objects, thanks to the work of the mayor and the majority of PP-DB-SS in the last year.

The chairman of the Local Coalition group "BSP for Bulgaria" and of the Standing Committee on Transport and Road Safety in SOS added that the city continues to be dirty and dusty, and the citizens of Sofia still see what they breathe. "I note this fact, as we are about to discuss and vote on the Cleanliness Plan account for next year, comments Ivan Takov. - In the mayor's report, we read that the city had become cleaner and friendlier. But we all live here, see and feel the reality. Beautiful pictures cannot lie and mislead us. And I am worried that the colleagues from the PP-DB-SS will continue the bad practice of GERB that the deficits from the household waste fee are spent on other activities, outside of the Plan account for cleanliness.

Ivan Takov expressed great disappointment at Mayor Vasil Terziev's neglect of questions raised by councilors from the MK group "BSP for Bulgaria" in connection with the unfinished third phase of the integrated waste management system, which was supposed to allow the resulting RDF fuel to be utilized by incineration. Its construction failed after GERB allowed the planned European financing. Thus, at the moment, the RDF fuel from waste produced by the municipal plant continues to be transported to various plants of private companies throughout the country, which have permission to accept and utilize it. For all this, the Municipality of Sofia pays over 20 million. BGN annually. "This is the money of the people of Sofia. And it is complete madness for them to be spent on transporting RDF fuel across the country, comments Ivan Takov. - Mayor Terziev's refusal to answer our questions on the subject of today's SOS meeting is irresponsible to the citizens of Sofia. The management of stubbornness, which they have been demonstrating for a year now, is extremely expensive for the people of Sofia. However, we certainly do not suffer from a lack of tenacity when it comes to defending the interest of Sofians. Therefore, we will ask our questions on this topic at any convenient time until we get a clear answer. With colleagues from the Local Coalition group "BSP for Bulgaria" we insist on clarity on the issue of what are the plans of the Metropolitan Municipality regarding the unfinished waste processing system. The mayor is obliged to say where the Metropolitan Municipality plans to build an installation for burning RDF fuel, how the construction of this installation will be financed and what are the plans for its operation. We expect Mayor Terziev to prepare and give us answers at the next meeting of the SOS at the latest.
