„Germany feels the most -very threatened by Donald Trump. There are four fundamental differences in US and European Union (EU) policies – economic and trade, the security topic, Ukraine and the end of the war “within 24 hours”, the climate topic - Trump left the Paris Agreement in 2017, the gender topic, etc.“
This was stated by former Deputy Prime Minister for European Funds and diplomat Meglena Plugchieva to bTV.
According to her, in the last two years there has been a recession in Germany and this is very worrying, as it will lead to bankruptcies and lack of jobs.
“Even at the end of 2022. under the anti-inflation law in the USA, a large part of the concerns of Europe and mainly Germany went to the USA and to Asia and China. For the first time in 87 years, “Volkswagen” plans to close three factories out of a total of 10 in Germany. Investments in Europe and respectively in Germany have decreased significantly in recent years. The danger is very great, because small and medium-sized enterprises are also affected and go bankrupt”, noted the diplomat.
The main reasons are high energy prices, high taxes, the lack of qualified labor, the lack of investments, the growth of unemployment, explained Plugchieva.
According to her, the economic condition of Germany largely depends on that of Bulgaria.
„Our economy is more than 50% export-oriented, and it is like a jumping ship with the German economy. With this recession in Germany, it is reflected here as well. In 2019 we have a turnover of 8 billion euro with Germany, for 2023 we only have 5.7 billion euros. This is a negative trend that is very dangerous and will affect jobs”, said Meglena Plugchieva.
According to Meglena Plugchieva, it is worrying that we learn information about Schengen from the Romanian and Austrian governments and media. At the same time, she criticizes our partners in the EU.
„Everyone uses the suspension of Bulgaria and Romania for internal use and for their own domestic political purposes. On the one hand, there is a total double standard and incorrect attitude towards us and Romania by the creators of Schengen. At the same time, they are closing borders and saying: “We will accept you”, I hope this will not remain on paper”, commented the former deputy prime minister for European funds.
