Ignoring and disrespecting basic principles of functioning and interaction of state institutions, especially those of the system for protecting the national security of the Republic of Bulgaria, can be very dangerous. This is stated in the position of the National Security Service (NSS) regarding a question circulated on Friday, November 15, by the People's Representative Kiril Petkov on behalf of the PP-DB Parliamentary Group in the 51st National Assembly.
The NSO says that any information that relates to the operational activities of security services, such as the National Security Service, carries a security stamp and cannot be disclosed outside of the rules defined by legislation.
"The law on NSO explicitly states that the National Assembly exercises control over the activities of the National Security Service in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Bulgaria through a permanent commission.
The leadership of the National Security Service considers that strict compliance with the law is one of the guarantees for preserving the political neutrality of the service in response to numerous attempts to use the NSO for narrow party purposes. The National Security Service is ready to provide answers to all questions related to the service's activities in accordance with the established legal order, as it has always done", informs the NSO.
