The caretaker government gives up the idea of raising the insurance of all workers by 3%. Such a measure was laid down by the Ministry of Finance in the plan for next year, the purpose of which was to secure more money in the budget and to cover serious expenses, including increased salaries in the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the defense system, Nova TV reports.
The finance department offers a kind of amnesty for unpaid taxes. Those who declared their income but did not pay the taxes on it on time will now be able to do so without being charged interest. This applies to individuals, businesses and municipalities.
Official Finance Minister Lyudmila Petkova also announced that people who have not declared income for the past three years will also be able to do so without suffering penalties for concealing income. However, they will be taxed at a higher rate than that for total income, which is 10%. The condition for individuals to benefit from this measure is that the money they earn is not from criminal activity.
The caretaker government also abandons the idea of postponing to 2026. raising salaries in the Ministry of the Interior and Defense. It is proposed that the increase be made in several stages, with the first jump being 10%. By this amount, it is planned to increase the remunerations in the entire state sector.
The idea that banks that have reported excess profits should pay higher taxes remains on the agenda.
In order to ensure more revenue in next year's budget, the Ministry of Finance also plans to increase the excise duty on cigarettes and tobacco products more sharply in two steps. The idea is already in 2025. for the excise tax to enter into force also for 2026. This will mean that the price of a pack of cigarettes will jump by about 40 cents next year.
However, all these proposals must be approved by the parliament.
