The decision was made on Monday. We informed Yavor Bozhankov and Daniel Laurer that if their votes are decisive for the election of the Speaker of the National Assembly and they block it, then we will have no choice but to demand their resignations, because this determines where Bulgaria is moving and is contrary to the beliefs of the party. This is what he said in the show "Face to Face" on BTV, the co-chairman of "We continue the change" Kiril Petkov.
I am somewhat proud that such clear communication was made. I respect their position, but if it weren't for those two votes, we might have an elected president today. As long as they voted differently, there was no problem, just like when Boyko Rashkov voted against the Constitution. The problem is when these two voices determine the course of the country's development. Our responsibility to the state is greater than personal freedom at this moment, said Petkov.
In response to a question about the withdrawal of Raya Nazaryan as a GERB candidate – SDS for Speaker of the Parliament, he pointed out: "I notice that GERB, coordinated with "DPS - New Beginning", first wanted to propose Atanasov as Speaker of the National Assembly, which is shaking our decision, this week they say – Kiselova, and waver the BSP. The only purpose of this is to delay, because the most important thing for Peevski and Borisov is the election of Sarafov as the chief prosecutor. They know very well that if they push out another week like this, the chances of this pick being thwarted decrease dramatically. Their task is to pound the ball until Sarafov is elected and then, if the elections can be held with acting Prime Minister Glavchev, it will be heaven for Peevski.
We saw that the only technical chairman could be the oldest and started systematically voting for him. When it was seen that Silvi Kirilov could be elected, Peevski became very nervous. This clear reaction that the oldest should not be chosen is a clear sign that this person will not be under the influence of Peevski, added the co-chairman of "We continue the change".
On the occasion of the refusal of "Democratic Bulgaria" to support Silvi Kirilov's candidacy in order not to end up in a single majority with "Vazrazhdane", Kiril Petkov stated: "Everyone can judge who is the biggest problem, but the backroom is trying to stay in power and trying to takes advantage of our contradictions. The biggest stick for this behind the scenes is the Prosecutor General and for us it is unacceptable that Sarafov is elected for another 7 years. We continue to be of the position that we cannot support a candidate for Speaker of the Parliament of any party unless the "Peevski" model agreed with us to be removed".
