DSB nominates the candidacy of party leader Atanas Atanasov for chairman of the 51st National Assembly, BNR learned from its sources.
The decision was taken by the National leadership of the party and will be proposed to the coalition partners in PP-DB for discussion.
The PP-DB initially nominated the former Minister of Regional Development Andrey Tsekov for the post. After that, they gave up his candidacy and split during the votes for the Speaker of the Parliament - the PP supported the oldest among the people's representatives, Silvi Kirilov, and the DB opposed it.
The PP even demanded the resignation of two deputies from the parliamentary group - Yavor Bozhankov and Daniel Laurer for disobeying the party decision, as their votes proved to be decisive for the failure of the seventh attempt to elect the speaker of the parliament.
We remind you that Atanasov was proposed for the post by GERB leader Boyko Borisov as part of a compromise decision, according to which Borisov himself is nominated for the prime minister of a future regular government.
