After the election of the chairman, vice-chairmen must also be elected. There is also a risk that the parliament will block, as now, a vote for each deputy president separately, as proposed by the PP-DB.
Natalia Kiselova, nominated for the speaker of the parliament from the BSP-United Left, told BNT, quoted by news.bg.
That is why she explained that the coalition she represents insists on predictability and clarity and on the next steps in the National Assembly after the election of the Speaker - this process is not just a formality and may create additional difficulties if no agreement is reached on the procedural issues.
"The conversation on unblocking the National Assembly has been going on for three weeks, but important questions remain before us," Kiselova emphasized. We remind you that after being nominated for the chairmanship of the National Assembly seven times, only yesterday, for the eighth time, Nataliya Kiselova received support from GERB-SDS, but even in the runoff she was unable to gather the necessary majority to take a seat on Presidium of the National Assembly.
In her words, from "BSP - United Left" offer talks on these technical issues precisely to avoid such a scenario. "We do not run away from responsibility, but we insist on dialogue and the exhaustion of all possibilities to reach a consensus," she emphasized.
Kiselova noted that the political groups in the parliament are facing a dilemma - to ensure the functionality of the National Assembly or to head for new early elections. "Elections are no longer just knocking on the door, they have entered the room. Some of the groups are working to delay their scheduling, which creates tension," she added.
The deputy outlined the key tasks that should be considered in the National Assembly. Among them are the constitution of the anti-corruption commission, the termination of the procedures for the election of the chief prosecutor and the chairman of the SAC, as well as finding a majority for the election of representatives in the SJC, ombudsman and other key positions.
"These are issues that require a cross-party approach. Consensus and clear priorities must be sought to avoid deepening the political crisis," said Kiselova.
