GERB's support for Natalia Kiselova's candidacy for the Speaker of the National Assembly cannot be considered an invitation to form a majority to form a regular government.
This was commented by MP Manol Genov from “BSP-United Left” in front of NOVA.
„We have a congressional decision that we will not govern with GERB”, Genov recalled.
He commented that support for Kiselova's candidacy was sought by all parties, not only GERB. Previously, this candidacy received support from other parties as well.
„I hoped that with the votes of GERB, the chairman of the National Assembly would be elected and the work would be unblocked. Things didn't work out”, commented the deputy.
When asked why APS and MECH voted differently this time, Genov said that they have not yet received a meaningful answer.
„We will probably have a meeting next week.
As for the candidacy of Atanas Atanasov, Manol Genov said that there are bodies in the BSP that decide.
„The candidacy of Assoc. Kiselova has the sanction of the highest body of the BSP – this is the National Council. It also has the sanction of the coalition council. Without preliminary polls, which we will conduct next week, we cannot say whether we will support Atanasov to start the work of the parliament. We offer a sufficiently valuable candidacy," Genov said.
Regarding the declaration of a “sanitary cordon”, Manol Genov said that after the last meeting, PP-DB changed the meaning and “from a legal one they proposed that it be political”.
„How can we go to a political cordon, since at certain moments constitutional majorities will be sought, and we will draw red lines,” said Manol Genov. “We have certain party decisions. Our only goal is to get the National Assembly into working mode," he continued.
„Until Wednesday, our requests will only be for support of Assoc. Kiselova for President of the National Assembly. As the fifth political force, we are not in a position to propose future solutions for the formation of a majority, Genov said.
„Personally, I will not support Atanasov, at least I will vote “abstain”, said Genov.
