Any injustice towards a people remains deep in its consciousness and history. 105 years ago, a considerable part of the Bulgarian lands were taken from Bulgaria and were left under the authority of other countries.
This is what the chairman of VMRO Krasimir Karakachanov told "Focus".
In the Western outskirts and in the Republic of North Macedonia, this problem continues to be painful. "Because both the government in Belgrade and the one in Skopje are trying in every way to limit the rights of Bulgarians. 105 years later, the problems have not been solved. In the problems between Bulgaria and the RSM, there is tension precisely because there are people there who call themselves "Bulgarians", and the local authorities are trying to deny this and suppress their manifestation as Bulgarian consciousness, Karakachanov pointed out.
In his words, in recent years Bulgaria has been governed by people who do not protect the interests of Bulgarian society. "For them, someone from an embassy is important – be it American, or British, or French or any other, to pat them on the shoulder and tell them that they are great Euro-Atlanticians. For some of the politicians, it is important that our partners in NATO and the European Union do not take off their dirty shirts and the scams they have been doing for decades. The Bulgarian people are in the situation of being blackmailed, crushed and humiliated by their own politicians, so there is nothing to be angry with foreigners who push their interests,' commented Karakachanov.
According to the chairman of VMRO, the confrontation between the political parties is not about principles and priorities, but about who should be the chief prosecutor and money. "They fought over some 2.4 billion from the Recovery Fund – which PP-DB or GERB-SDS companies should steal them. But it is not the fault of these incompetents, but of the Bulgarians, that they continue to endure this whole thing and that at our expense these people are experimenting with us, with our children and with the state", he added.
The way out of the situation, according to him, is for people to take to the streets and show the rulers that they cannot continue like this. "Otherwise they will continue to play their games. As we can see, for more than a month they cannot choose a speaker of the parliament, they cannot accept a single decision, a single law, the state budget. We see problems with water supply, problems with organized and domestic crime, problems with health care. If we continue to wait for the next "savior" to appear, it means that we are completely screwed, because all of these at some point were "saviors" that the people were waiting for. And GERB was waiting for them, then PP-DB", commented Krasimir Karakachanov.
