Svoge, which is often compared to a Swiss town because of its chocolate factory, is quickly changing to Euros.
The municipality of Svoge announced the taxes for local residents in both Bulgarian and European currency. In the municipality, they are ahead of the events – from January they will be one step closer to the common European currency, reports bTV.
An increase in levies is also planned from next year. The proposal is made by the mayor Iliya Bogdanov.
Taxes in the municipality have not been raised for a long time, and the budget needs new revenues.
The currency conversion was done by the deputy mayor, who explained that this way they will be prepared for the introduction of the euro.
„Now we have assessed that a certain increase in local taxes and fees, which have a leva expression, is necessary, and the fact that we also reflect them in euros is only a fulfillment of the requirement for currency conversion, and not a reason for the new amount,” explains Mayor Bogdanov .
The municipalities of Kazanlak, Bansko, Targovishte and Svoge were the first to convert their local taxes and fees.
The hope is that Bulgaria will be admitted to the Eurozone next year.
