Vladislav Panev: I believe that the Ministry of Finance will handle the budget - 1

I believe that the Ministry of Finance will handle the budget, but I don't believe that without a parliamentary majority, he will stop with populist spending, said Vladislav Panev, creator of the "Acceleration" club, a former MP and adviser in the SOS, and a financier, in an interview with BNR.

He commented on the parliamentary chaos and the draft budget for 2025. of Bulgaria.

"In the National Assembly we are seeing another vaudeville, Borisov has set conditions for the BSP or they will have his support for Kiselova if they do not sign the declaration on the sanitary cordon. If they sign, they will have PP-DB, but not GERB. The BSP decided not to sign the declaration even for those who lost 37 votes and won for GERB, but Nataliya Kiselova didn't have enough 2 votes, Panev explained.

He reminded her that the budget for 2023 was adopted at the end of July of that year.

"Of the measures mentioned so far - extraordinary tax, excess profits of the banks, amnesty of tax obligations, etc. I don't think they will raise 12 billion. BGN from above. These receivables are from bankrupt companies. It doesn't matter whether they will reduce the interest, they don't have the money", Vladislav Panev also said.

He predicts that in mid-2025 or early 2026. Bulgaria's entry into the Eurozone is possible if the inflation, which in 10 days will be shown by the NSI, is within the criteria.

"The deficit will mainly be on paper, what the parliament voted for, not what it is in reality. We 2025 we may end up with a 5 and 6% deficit, but if the decision to enter the Eurozone is made, this will not matter", comments Panev.

"This is one of the big risks. 2007 we tried to reform the economy and administration, because there were negotiations for joining the EU, we became a member and the purses were untied, the waste of European funds returned and since then the reforms have not been going on. Now the same scenario can be repeated. If we enter, the purse is untied and all discipline can go to hell." Panev warned.

According to him, it is probably true what they say that Boyko Borisov and Delyan Peevski are waiting for time to pass so that legislation against the election of Sarafov is not passed.

About the looming hole in the 2025 budget. from 18 billion BGN he commented: "Main countries of the Eurozone, for example, France cannot accept its budget, Romania's deficit is 8%. This budget now depends on whether we enter the Eurozone in mid-2025. or early 2026. It is important to vote on a deficit of 3%, and whether these 12 billion BGN will find each other, it will no longer matter because the decision to enter the Eurozone will have been made."
