On his Facebook page, the co-chairman of the PP Kiril Petkov explained why, according to him, he was asked for the immunity of a deputy right now. Here are Petkov's words:
Why am I being charged now?
1. The sanitary cordon against Peevski worked and he sees that there is a real chance through a change in the law on the judiciary to lose his Sarafov club. This is a waste of real power, and he should be made to look scary. And in reality it shows more and more weakness.
2. Peevski sends a signal to GERB not to hand him over and that he still has influence on the prosecution. Peevski is lost if GERB throws him under the bus. So far, GERD is scary to them and his addiction is working, but he wants to make sure.
3. Sarafov wants to divert public attention from the other big scandal - the funds that his family regularly received from private companies, as reported by BOEC.
This accusation only confirms that we are on the right track. "We continue the change" made a very principled decision yesterday and will not be influenced in any way by the slightly desperate actions of Peevski through the Prosecutor General.
