Ivaylo Mirchev: We will need a few weeks if we want to make a real fight for the cabinet - 1

„We are not on the way to split And the reason is very simple. The idea of the declaration of the so-called “sanitary cordon” first it was on “Democratic Bulgaria”. It was directed in the direction of the talks for the chairman of the National Assembly. This is what we declared at the beginning. Now we say something else – if we are invited to talks, we are ready to include the measures from the declaration to include them in a potential coalition agreement. Nothing else. There is no retreat from this declaration. We are its authors and there is no way to retreat from something we have created”. This was stated in the studio of “Hello, Bulgaria” the deputy from "We continue the change - Democratic Bulgaria" Ivaylo Mirchev. He commented on the question of whether it is possible to split the coalition because of the insistence to sign the declaration on the “sanitary cordon”.
He explained that the initial purpose “of this declaration was to start talks at all on the election of the Speaker of the Parliament – GERB must first agree with the measures in it”. “Both formations in our coalition are willing to participate in governance. Before the elections, we said very clearly that we would look for a figure for Prime Minister who is mutually acceptable to each of the parties in the National Assembly. Outside, of course, “Revival” and “DPS-New Beginning”. This was our request and it was clear that we would go towards a coalition type of government. We are not changing anything right now. This is not a hidden desire to rule with GERB or a hidden desire for posts, he stressed. And he recalled that during the management of the “assembly” DB did not take office because “politics are important to us, not ministerial seats”.

Mirchev refused to comment on names for a potential prime minister on the grounds that they have not yet received an invitation for negotiations from the coalition. "But it is not an option for the prime minister to be both broadcast and tied to a certain party,", he answered the question of what a "mutually acceptable candidate" means.

He emphasized that what possible management formula PP-DB will propose will become clear during the talks with GERB. “But we are pessimistic that this can happen by Sunday. Rather, we will need a few weeks if we want to make real fires, and not find another reason to go to the elections.
