The Speaker of the Parliament Nataliya Kiselova notified in a letter the acting Chief Prosecutor Borislav Sarafov for the written consent given by People's Representative Kiril Petkov to lift the immunity, BTA reports. This was announced at the beginning of today's plenary session by Assoc. Natalia Kiselova. Yesterday, Kiril Petkov filed in the parliament's registry an agreement to remove his immunity.

"On December 9, 2024. a request has been received from the acting chief prosecutor for permission to initiate criminal prosecution against People's Representative Kiril Petkov in pre-trial proceedings from 2024. in connection with a prosecutor's inspection from 2023. according to the inventory of the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office. By letter dated December 10, 2024. the Speaker of the National Assembly notified the People's Representative of the received request and the opportunity to get acquainted with it and the attached materials. With a letter, People's Representative Kiril Petkov informed the Speaker of the National Assembly that he consented to initiate criminal prosecution based on the received request, Kiselova announced.

Acting Chief Prosecutor Borislav Sarafov requested the immunity of the co-chairman of "We continue the change" Kiril Petkov is in connection with an ongoing investigation into the fact that on March 17, 2022, as Prime Minister, Petkov exceeded his authority. In a post on the social network, Kiril Petkov stated that he will waive his immunity. The waiver of immunity was entered in the parliament's registry yesterday.

On the date indicated by the prosecutor's office - March 17, 2022, GERB leader Boyko Borisov was detained. The Ministry of Internal Affairs announced at the time that searches and seizures were being carried out at many addresses. Vladislav Goranov and Sevdalina Arnaudova were also detained.
