An unprecedented increase in salary costs in the state administration is revealed by the draft budget for 2025. The biggest jump is observed in the State Agency "Technical Operations" (DATO), where personnel funds increase by 75 percent - from 81.3 million to 142 million leva, writes the SEGA newspaper.
In second place is the State Agency "National Security" (DANS) with a 61 percent increase, with the salary budget there reaching 262.349 million leva next year.
The Ministry of Interior also receives a significant increase of 51 percent, with personnel costs increasing from 2.536 billion leva to 3.828 billion leva.
The Anti-Corruption Commission will have 73 percent more funds for salaries, reaching 15.522 million leva in 2025.
The Bulgarian National Bank expresses serious concerns about the planned increases. A statement signed by Governor Dimitar Radev warns of risks to the country's fiscal sustainability and a possible postponement of eurozone membership.
