The Speaker of the National Assembly Natalia Kiselova confirmed her readiness to take over the post of acting Prime Minister if the head of state votes in her confidence. This became clear from her participation in the program "Panorama" on Bulgarian National Television.
"The head of state asked me if I was aware that I could be a potential candidate (for acting prime minister). I answered him that until then there is time, but he can count on me," shared Kiselova.
The Speaker of the Parliament emphasized that the appointment of an acting government is not a priority at the moment. According to her, efforts should be directed towards forming a regular cabinet within the framework of the current National Assembly.
"The first thing I told the head of state is that once the parliamentary groups have been constituted and formalized, he can begin consultations with them. The second thing I asked was to give the first and second parliamentary groups the opportunity to seek opportunities to form a government," Kiselova explained.
Despite the difficulties in the work of the legislative body, the Speaker of Parliament expressed moderate optimism for the future. "The issues facing Bulgarian citizens and businesses require that paths be sought between the parliamentary groups. It will not be easy, but this is the path," she was categorical.
Regarding the declaration of "Continuing Change - Democratic Bulgaria" (PP-DB), Kiselova called for constructive dialogue: "The Declaration is a political document and commitment to it is political. The goal is not to back down, but when we have made a commitment, how to do this within the terms of the regulations, the Constitution and the laws".
