A small NATO town will not be built near the village of Kabile, but only a new barracks area, where the multinational battle group, which is currently deployed in Novo Selo, will be relocated. This was announced on the sidelines of parliament by the acting Minister of Defense Atanas Zapryanov, quoted by BNT.
He reassured that the new base will not store dangerous substances and ammunition.
"There will be no small NATO town. There will be a barracks area that will be in close proximity to the existing one. In fact, we will use the training ground of our units, which are deployed in Kabile, to complete the construction of this base. "It is not planned to store either ammunition or any other dangerous materials in this military district," said Minister Zapryanov.
"There will only be facilities for housing, training and sports facilities to maintain physical fitness. Any ammunition that will be used, as now, is currently stored in our ammunition depots, outside of populated areas," he added.
