Schengen in the form in which it was created by the founding countries no longer exists. Therefore, we need to get used to the new Schengen, of which Bulgaria will also be a part. The information that after our admission by land there will be a 6-month border control should not worry us. In the 5-kilometer zone of Greek or Bulgarian territory there will be border patrols who can choose to stop passing cars”. This was said by former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Milen Keremedchiev on the air of the program “Your Day” by NOVA NEWS.
According to the co-chair of the Atlantic Council in Bulgaria, Ivan Anchev, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs must increase its capacity in order to provide good administrative services to citizens, and this will also be a plus for the state in the form of revenue for the treasury.
He also commented on the topic of the overthrow of the regime in Syria and the escape of President Bashar Assad. “Syria is undoubtedly a destroyed country at the moment. As a result of the civil war that lasted 13 years and all the atrocities of the Assad regime, the country can be compared to a lunar landscape. The monthly salary in Syria is between 30 and 100 euros”, Anchev explained.
”The situation in Syria is now seemingly calm. Assad was overthrown by three different groups. One - “Hayat Tahrir al-Sham”, is made up not only of Syrian fighters, but also of those from Uzbekistan, Dagestan. It is not clear what these people will do after they helped take over Syria and bring down the regime. The rebels are financed by Turkey. Separately, there are also the Druze who entered from the south. The third are the Kurds. This mixture of groups will sooner or later clash”, added Keremedchiev.
According to Anchev, there are various external factors that seek to establish spheres of influence in Syria. “There will be zones of influence in the country that will be clearly distinguishable - of the US, of Turkey, one in which Israel will have the decisive say, etc. "Russia is categorically finished with Syria," he added.
“The rebels should not forget that Russia played a major role in preserving the Assad regime,” said Keremedchiev.
