“I will give myself immunity and I am not at all worried. The case is entirely political and made-to-order, because during a protest in 2020, on the occasion of the water shortage, the police beat and mistreated us. Vesselin Veshev was hit with an electric shock, I was repeatedly pushed against the wall of the MRDPW building, I was choked, I was hit on the arm and there was a danger of breaking it. There are video footage showing this. So this is an absolutely made-to-order case with a totally biased judge”, the MP from “Vazrazhdane” told the media Angel Georgiev, regarding the current Prosecutor General's requests for immunity for the MP.
He also noted that the judge in the case is an avowed supporter of the PP-DB and has been unreasonably nagging many times during the case. This is yet another political case in Bulgaria, but the innocent have nothing to worry about.
“Once again, we will grant ourselves immunity, we are not worried. I believe that truth and justice will prevail”, Georgiev also stated.
His party colleague Veshev is also giving up his. Thus, they become the first members of parliament to voluntarily waive their immunity and call on others to do the same.
