An interesting 5-year political period awaits us, PR expert Diana Damyanova predicted in an interview with the Bulgarian National Radio. She commented on the political situation in Bulgaria in her outgoing year.
"In history, like in a bottle of water, there are no empty spaces, but historical processes are slower. Now we feel an impasse - in the last 2-3 years. A political force will come that will clearly and consistently express the interests of the democratic community, where it will come from, I don't know, it won't be in the next few days, but it will come. We are moving towards two poles and one is GERB. The other could be on the left, from the presidency, or from the center - because someone has to take care of our economy, which has been left to its own devices," Damyanova predicted.
"The good news is that Bulgarians are paying less and less attention to the political class. And that is why people find the good things in life - both sports successes and cultural ones. But no one can say a good word about Bulgarian public life, which is a total swamp and now there is hope for us to get out of it," Damyanova said.
According to her, the problem is that in 2024 the democratic door that was opened in 2020 has closed. with the people coming out to the square".
"The door closed because people expect GERB to participate in the government and vote it into power, but they expect representatives of the democratic forces – PP-DB, to control this power. And they refuse because they want to receive the entire dividend of the government, being the second political force with a fading rating", Damyanova explained.
She believes that PP-DB will split, claiming that DB is more reasonable and, as a real party, "they seem to realize that you go to elections to govern":
"And since the Bulgarian people have not given you a mandate for revolutionary changes, you understand that you can make them together with GERB. This is the way".
She warned that the PP's only political message is anti-Peev, there is no other and they are making an advertising campaign for it.
And she predicted a good position for the BSP in our political life, because "stopping the decline may be a signal to stabilize":
"In a country where there is no trade union movement, in our country it is pseudo, there must be a party that expresses the interests of the workers. The role of the BSP is great, because there must be a spokesperson for the working class".
She said that parties like MECH and "Velicie" are the punishment of the Bulgarian people.
