We continue to wait for the sacred date of January 16, when a sign will be given in the direction of calming down or not completely calming down the GERB leader. This was said by political psychologist Prof. Antoaneta Hristova in the program "Morning in Focus" on Radio "Focus" with host Asya Alexandrova.
According to her, during the negotiations, the main demand of "Democratic Bulgaria" was that the procedure for electing a prosecutor general be suspended or that changes be adopted in the legislation related to the election of a prosecutor general, so that Borislav Sarafov's stay in office would be as short as possible. "The logic of the process follows that it would be right for Borisov to accept such a requirement, but with the condition that he be Prime Minister. When they did not accept it, he proposed Rosen Zhelyazkov. And then came the critical moment when he played this complex tango that is being played between them, perfectly. His thesis will be that he made many concessions, but no one accepted his and that the others in no way wanted a government. Secondly, he responded to his voters, because GERB itself has an intolerance for negotiations with PP-DB based on what he experienced from the assembly. In this way, he sent a message to his voters and said: We are going to elections. I will not betray you and make a compromise“, explained Prof. Hristova.
According to her, none of the negotiating political forces has a real interest in participating in a coalition government. "At the moment, neither political force will gain anything positive from coming together with the other. If the cards line up after the 16th and GERB is ready for full compromises, then the other political forces have their concerns. Let's not forget that the BSP is facing a congress to elect a leader. The PP-DB have a huge task that cannot be easily skipped. Their voters are extremely loyal to them and will not betray them. On the contrary, they are ready for anything in the name of not governing with GERB. ITN is a very situational player. They simply participate to participate, to be seen purely for PR purposes, that they are in the process, but they will not get tied up in a process that would put them in a bad situation for the election campaign", explained the political psychologist.
That is why we are slowly moving towards elections, believes Antoaneta Hristova. "In the next two or three months we will witness carousels of whether, who and how could form a government, after which in some natural way we will move towards elections", she predicts.
