Hristina Hristova: It is not good for a caretaker government to submit a budget - 1

Two weeks after the beginning of the new year, we do not have a budget, we do not have a regular government. We do not even have a so-called extension law in force for the previous budget until the adoption of the new one for 2025. This was commented on in the studio of "The Day Begins" on BNT by former Social Minister Hristina Hristova.

"This is not at all favorable for the state, considering that the budget is truly the most serious, the strongest political instrument for governing the state, for making policies for people and for business. We hope that the new government will perhaps make a new budget," said Hristova.

According to her, however, this is not entirely certain and there are two options: "One option is to analyze the submitted budget and between the first and second reading to receive many proposals that could radically change some of the parameters, but the macroeconomic framework can hardly change. The indicators for inflation and expected GDP are also very objective. But the revenue measures, for stabilizing and increasing revenues, and the measures for limiting expenses can also be changed."

According to her, it is not good for a caretaker government to submit a budget, because it is assumed that the caretaker government has slightly more technical and technological functions.

"Ministers in a regular government have their own vision and I hope that now the new ministers already have their own vision for the sector they manage. But it is very important, if the law on the state budget is still in complete stagnation, and it is, it has not even been considered in the budget and finance committee," she specified.

According to Hristina Hristova, the problem is that many budget organizations in education, healthcare, municipalities have not received funds for January for the so-called activities delegated by the state. These are social services for the elderly, for people with disabilities, for children, the former social minister explained.
